Budapest

We have found our new favourite place… Budapest. We arrived at 9pm and had to still setup a tent and find dinner so it is needless to say that we were absolutely exhausted. On the plus side though, we found some amazing pizza so had a little pizza party in the tent.

The next day we decided to have a slow morning and then make our way into the city centre to look at the sights. Our first stop was the House of Terror. It is a building that was used as a place of interrogation, torture and as a killing house for thousands of victims during the during the fascists and communist regimes.

It is definitely a chilling place. From the moment we walked inside the air felt think and you knew instantly that something terrible has happened in the building. We started on the second floor and made our way down to the underground torture rooms. When we got to the rooms the feeling intensified. Kate had to sit down for a moment as the awful feeling of the place got too much. We didn’t see or hear anything graphic however the general feeling of the place was very dark and heavy. We spent around two hours there but could easily have spent a full day looking around.

From there we made our way to a rooftop bar which gave 360 views of the city where we caught up with Charlotte and Emily as they happened to be in Budapest at the same time as us. The rooftop view was great and it was perfect weather to sit back and enjoy a drink. We made our way into town all together and had dinner.

After Dinner we wondered along the river to gaze at the parliament buildings all lit up which were pretty spectacular.
